So, if you need some suggestions…here are some great travel gift ideas for the female traveler in your life!
RFID Passport Holder
Note that this is not how someone should be carrying their passport around overseas ⇓
A passport contains personal data in a microchip called an RFID chip.
This chip is there to actually help keep you secure and prevent fraud, as it makes it harder to counterfeit your passport.
However, if someone has an RFID reader, they can actually obtain the information from the chip. Since these readers are not hard to come by, this scanning could be done by someone with less than noble intentions.
Before you panic:
The reality is that the passport would pretty much need to be open and accessible for someone to be able to scan it.
Plus, the only information they could get is the contact info on the passport…and there isn’t much someone can do with that information. (Is it too much to hope they may want to come clean my house!?)
But, the reason I love RFID blocking wallets, is because I can usually put an extra credit card as a backup when traveling in the cover.
Credit cards also have RFID chips…. and if someone gets that info, then they are free to go on a shopping spree with my banking information.
So, all that to say…do your girl a favor get her a cool organizing Passport holder/wallet.
Wine Bottle Bags
If you enjoy a nice glass of vino overseas and want to bring a bottle home, these wine protector bags will guard the rest of your luggage from red wine stains in the event of a spill.
If you fly only using carry-on luggage like we do, these are not helpful since you can’t bring wine back on a carry-on internationally.
However, if you check luggage or are traveling by car, these are very handy.
Or if your favorite traveler would rather just enjoy the bottle wherever they’re at, then another good option is making sure they have a
TSA Compliant Corkscrew
Yes. Such a thing exists! I discovered this boomerang corkscrew just before heading to Italy last summer.
The corkscrew has no blade, which technically makes it TSA compliant if you have to take it in a carry-on suitcase.
So far, it has gone through 4 security checkpoints internationally and domestically.
I did get stopped each time and pulled out the corkscrew. They gave it a quick inspection and let it pass right through.
It’s a great little gadget to avoid having to find a corkscrew overseas or paying uncorking fees.
Space Saver Packing Bags
For those who like to pack light, but also pack a lot, space-saving bags are a must.
I personally like the non-vacuum required bags and have had good luck with the Travis Travel Storage bags, but any high-quality storage bag or packing cubes will make a great gift idea.
If you’ve ever been to Europe, you’ve probably heard of the high rate of pickpockets. (If you haven’t…. then check out this great post from thesaavybackpacker.com to learn more and how to avoid them.)
I have a couple anti-theft purses and though they initially seem like more work when I have to unlatch a zipper to get to my stuff… I appreciate the extra layers of protection.
With RFID security, reinforced anti-slash straps and locking latches (just to name a few features) combined with some good ol’ fashioned common sense and awareness will keep important items like credit cards, passport, and phones safe from theft.
Kindle E-Reader
Oftentimes traveling requires long layovers, plane delays and…basically…time that you have to kill in ways that are not fun.
Having an Amazon Kindle, Nook or e-reader is very helpful. If she has a smartphone, she may already have the Kindle app downloaded on her phone. In which case, a subscription for Kindle Unlimited , allowed her to download a large variety of books free of charge, is helpful.
But if you think she’d rather plug in her headphones and just listen…:
An AudioBooks subscription is a great gift idea that is affordable and doesn’t require an e-reader. Any android or IOS smartphone will do!
Noise Canceling Headphones
If you give the gift of audiobooks, consider throwing in some noise-canceling headphones. They help block outside ambient noise so you can focus on your audiobook, podcast or music.
Perfect for when the person you got stuck sitting next to on an 8 8-hour flight is snoring…
Rose Water Facial Spray
One of my travel blogging gal pals, Taima of poorinaprivateplane.com considers rosewater facial spray as one of her fave travel must-haves.
She says that it’s great to ” spray on your face to keep skin looking hydrated.”
Comfortable Shoes
I swear the best exercise I get is when I travel. We walk A LOT!

A portable charger is so helpful when you need some extra juice to your phone, but don’t want to have to slow down to find an outlet.
Fortunately, there are several awesome portable chargers and power banks that are small enough to fit into a backpack or purse.
Collapsible Water Bottles
 Hydration is important when wandering.
A collapsible water bottle is easy to take when you are on the go. It can also easily go through security airport lines empty and be filled at the gate…saving the cost of buying overpriced bottled water at an airport convenience store.
Luggage Tags
A cute luggage tag makes a great stocking stuffer or gift exchange item.
They are practical and can be individualized to a person’s style.
Map WatchÂ
For the wanderluster who loves fashion, a map watch accessory can be a cute, fun addition their travel style.
Travel Journal
If she likes to take notes and jot down thoughts, a travel journal is a heartfelt and meaningful gift.

When traveling and packing light, you need versatile pieces.
